World Cup 2007 Final

World Cup 2007 Final: Australia v Sri Lanka at Bridgetown
After 46 days and 50 matches, nine nations, so many island transfers, hitches and glitches the day of the ninth World Cup final has dawned.Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Unfortunately match delayed by rain. I will be back with details later on.
Australia 281/4 (38/38 ov)
Sri Lanka 215/8 (36.0/36 ov)
Australia won by 53 runs. Man-of-the-Match award went to Adam Gilchrist. Sri Lanka gave them a game but on the day came up just short.

Finally World Cup 2007 Final is over.Congratulations to Australia who were the best team from the first match and maintained their high standard throughout.Australia have won the World Cup for the third time in a row. Now Question is that will they make it four in four in Asia in 2011? Who knows what can happen in future, It might can rain whole day. I am happy for Aus but sad for Sri Lanka at least they should have got to play 50 Over game, but this rain ruined everything for them.

Anyway thank you for reading my cricket blog over the last seven weeks.

This world cup was the biggest joke in the name of World Cup. With no World Class facilities in place and with incidents like a national team's coach being killed. The irony is the final overs (last 3 overs) of the final match were played in such a bad condition where even galli-cricket does not take place, let alone the world cup final.

From organization point of view this world cup was not at all organized. And where was the competition. The 11 match journey of Australia was almost like a cakewalk. There were couple of good matches but none of them were against Australia.

In a Nutshell, this world cup was a joke nothing else.
