The simplest way to say is that South Africa tried to take the game to the Australians, lost their entire top order mostly to some ill-judged shots, and the game was basically over. Australia took 31.3 overs and lost 3 wickets to overall South Africa's score, which represents a severe thrashing in anyone's books.

The only other fact I will add is that Sri Lanka were the last side to beat them in a knock-out match to win the 1996 Cup.....
